Purrfect Revenge Makes the Long List in the 2025 SEA Shorts Book Awards

This summer, I entered another story in the SEA Shorts contest with Chanticleer. In 2024, I won a first place with Finding Namaste and in 2023, I took Grand Prize with The Heart of Kublai Khan’s Menagerie Keeper.

I just found out that Purrfect Revenge made the Long List for 2025.

The CIBA awards include 25+ categories, so there is something for every writer.

This story was a lot of fun to write. It is about a woman who runs a cat rescue in Las Vegas. She makes handbags from recycled materials and sells them at craft fairs to raise money for the shelter. She has just found out that a famous pop star who has a residency in Las Vegas has started selling copycat designs in a casino boutique. Our heroine has to decide what to do next. This story originated in the NYC Midnight contest. It had to be a comedy and include a copycat. These prompts always stretch my creativity in surprising ways.

Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for reading.
